Electric Instrument Winches

ODIM Brooke Ocean has developed a line of Electric Instrument Winches which are ideal for launches and other vessels where hydraulic power is not available and space is minimal.

The E-line of portable electric instrument winches offers the following features:
  • Aluminum construction
  • Variable-speed motor controller
  • Right angle worm gearbox
  • Remote pendant on 5m lead with "in/out" buttons, rotary speed control
  • Motor, gearbox and controller mounted in a water-tight enclosure
  • Stainless steel fasteners
  • Powder-coated finish
  • Accepts steel, stainless steel, synthetic fiber and EM cable types
  • Fully factory tested and ready to run
Below are three examples of electric winches ODIM Brooke Ocean has supplied, each of which has specifications custom-tailored to the clients needs.


220VAC 1-1/2HP electric winch, equipped with a large size drum and 450m of 0.25" dia EM cable, used as a multipurpose instrument winch.
220VAC 1HP winch, equipped with a small size drum and 200m of 0.186" dia. stainless steel EM cable, used to deploy current meters.
12VDC 1/2HP electric winch, equipped with a small size drum and 500m of 1/8" dia. stainless steel cable, as part of a small vessel CTD handling system.

  • 12VDC input (0.5HP only)
  • 24VDC input (0.5, 1.0HP)
  • 110/220VAC single phase input
 Slip Ring Options
  • Mercotec 4-, 6- and 8-pass industrial grade slip rings
  • Coming soon: Focal 180 4- and 6-pass slip rings

  • Special data connectors
  • Electromagnetic coupler brake for positive system locking - recommended for towed applications
  • Cable supplied to customer specification, spooled under tension onto the winch drum
  • Cable connectors and mechanical terminations supplied to customer specification
