- Large-Diameter Sheave Alternative for E-M Cables and Umbilicals

ODIM BROOKE OCEAN's Roller Sheave is the ideal alternative to large diameter sheaves where there is a cable requirement for a large bend radius and space is at a premium or the cost of a large-diameter sheave is prohibitive.

The roller sheave works by replacing the conventional solid sheave with a series of rollers. This combination of rollers creates an effective bend radius equal that of larger, heavier alternatives without the wasted space required by a full-size sheave.

The Roller Sheave should only be used in low-tension applications; contact ODIM BROOKE OCEAN with your specific requirements.

Umbilicals and electro-mechanical cables require minimum bend radii much larger than ordinary wire rope cable in order to prevent damage to the delicate internal conductors. One such example is the umbilical cable used on the HARDSUIT™ atmospheric diving suit by Oceanworks. ODIM BROOKE OCEAN also developed the Crane-Based Launch System to deploy this suit.

The roller sheave is capable of the same degree of freedom as a conventional sheave and has a Safe Working Load of 330 lbs. The roller sheave is equipped with wear-reducing bushings at all rotating points to allow the longest life possible.

The roller sheave can be used independantly or incorporated into any of ODIM BROOKE OCEAN's Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) or as an add-on to one of our Cable Handling products.
